DESIGN WEEK MEXICO

Inédito 2022

SAKILAL OSIL is a unique piece created for the second edition of Inédito during Design Week México 2022. It was an unprecedented collaboration between Veronique Tesseraud (author) and Teresa Hernandez (weaver, expert in new structures).

This experimentation allowed us to expand our knowledge of various textile structures such as dyeing and weaving using maguey fiber. This approach enabled us to continue intertwining our cultures and connect with the world of Mexican creative design. This piece received the “Honorable Mention for Social Craft Impact” from Inédito.

VAICHIL: Dream in tsotsil Language

Veronique Tesseraud, director of El Camino de Los Altos and textile designer, along with Mary Collazo Collazo, a talented weaver from the same association, combined their talent and creativity to bring to life an unprecedented art object piece.

This creation is a resting chair, whose wooden structure is inspired by elements of the backstrap loom. The fabric that envelops it was woven on a pedal loom, using cotton and ixtle fibers—natural materials that connect us to the beauty and authenticity of handcrafted textiles.

BIENNALE DI VENEZIA 2022

TALEL is an installation of 23 pieces woven on a backstrap loom, created by 11 tsotsil weavers from the ECLA team, in collaboration with artist Santiago Borja. This work is part of the collective exhibition “Hasta que los cantos broten”, which is representing México at the 59th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale 2022.

Exclusive Designs

The IKSAK collection, designed by Véronique Tesseraud, embroidered and woven exclusively for Hotel Bo in San Cristóbal de las Casas by the artisans of El Camino de Los Altos from Zinacantán and Chamula, includes a bed runner and cushions that highlight the dialogue created between the threads, shapes, and colors woven on a pedal loom.

COLLABORATION WITH MADDA STUDIO

The “Madda Studio” project is dedicated to designing textile pieces using local materials and artisanal techniques. Through many years of collaboration, we have successfully established a range of gray tones based on the natural colors of the local sheep wool.
